For those interested, here is a bit about me. I’ve had a full and happy life so far, but there’s still so much more to do…in summary, I am a fan of politics and economics/business and a lot more besides.
I grew up in Leicestershire and went to Leicester Grammar School, before going to St Peter’s College, Oxford to read archaeology and anthropology. I subsequently joined the Army, where I served in Kosovo and Iraq. A year spent in politics followed, in the US Senate and working for Theresa May, before I became a management consultant specialising in energy operations and strategy. After four years consulting, and then two years with my family business, my wife was asked to relocate by her employer to Hong Kong, which is where we are now, along with our young son. I’m passionate about (rock) music, (comedy) films and sport, especially cricket.
I have been involved in politics for a long time, starting with running one of the biggest Young Conservative groups in the country. Highlights include:
- Campaign manager of Rt Hon Theresa May MP’s successful re-election campaign in 2005.
- Legislative Fellow in the office of Senator Arlen Specter, the United States Senate, specialising in trade legislation.
- Asked by current Minister of State for Europe, David Lidington MP, to write a white paper on the state of British-Middle East relations.
- A founder member of NetworkMe, an innovative scheme designed to bring young professionals into the Conservative Party election campaigns.
I have also been involved in dozens of election campaigns for MPs and candidates, such as Zac Goldsmith, Nicky Morgan and Edward Garnier. I was also heavily involved in Boris Johnson’s 2008 successful campaign to be London Mayor.
